Welcome to Ras Al Khaimah

HISTORY OF RAS AL KHAIMAH HOTEL

Ras Al Khaimah Hotel was built in 1970 and began operations in May 1971, with construction led by a team of Lebanese engineers. The land was granted by the Government of Ras Al Khaimah under a 20-year “build and operate” agreement. From 1983 to 1994, the hotel was managed through a partnership between the Albert Abela Company and the Government of Ras Al Khaimah. The government managed the hotel from 1994 to 2004, after which the Al Wahda Group took over management until December 31, 2011.

Since 2012, the hotel has been managed by an internal management team. Under its new management, Ras Al Khaimah Hotel, the oldest hotel in the UAE, renowned for hosting distinguished figures such as former UK Prime Minister Margaret Thatcher, His Royal Highness the Crown Prince of Saudi Arabia, and other notable leaders and celebrities, underwent an extensive refurbishment. The renovations include both interior and exterior upgrades, along with enhancements to the surrounding landscape, offering guests a unique cultural experience.

The hotel is an ideal destination for both local and international business and leisure travellers. It offers a perfect choice throughout the year for those seeking a relaxing holiday, a romantic getaway, a business meeting, or simply a tranquil retreat. With an emphasis on privacy, relaxation, and well-being, the hotel promises an unmatched experience.

The new ownership’s commitment to human resources, combined with the professionalism and expertise of the management team, and the dedication of all staff members, ensures guests an unforgettable stay, imbued with the charm and heritage of Ras Al Khaimah.

Local women in Ras Al Khaimah wear a traditional long dress called Makhawar, which reaches the feet. They also cover their heads and sometimes their faces, and wear either special shoes or sandals. A black Abaya covers their entire figure.
